Jefferson County spending $80K of our tax money on a special election!

Why is Jefferson County spending $80K of our tax money on a special election.? Why can they not wait to have a vote on the School levy next year when its an election year, instead of waiting for the May primary, they are spending $80,000 of our money to try to pull a fast one on the voters. They are wasting $80K of our tax dollars for a few months? Call Commissioners Dale Manuel, Patsy Noland and Jane Tabb and ask why! This is a huge waste of tax dollars, your dollars!

The $80,000 cost to hold the special election in December would be paid by the school board. There would be no cost if the levy was on the primary ballot.

FYI - Average teacher salary = $46K.  Starting pay = $33K

The cost of holding this special election could pay the salaries of 2 teachers for an entire year and yet they wish to waste it on a special election instead of waiting a few months! Is this gross mis-management of citizen funds? Seems that Manuel, Noland and Tabb should be re-evaluated by the people of Jefferson county!

Commissioners Walter Pellish and Eric Bell said they opposed the Dec. 12 date because of the cost.

Commissioners Dale Manuel, Patsy Noland and Jane Tabb voted for December.
